About the role

The Bookkeeper plays a crucial role in overseeing the financial and administrative functions of a housing community. Reporting to the Community Manager, they are responsible for managing all aspects of the property, ensuring compliance with Asset Living's policies and procedures, and maintaining a positive resident experience.

Responsibilities

  • Post all payments and income accurately, timely, and efficiently
  • Process and reconcile daily account receivables
  • Monitor and follow up on bad debt, preparing late notices, contacting residents and guarantors, and filing evictions
  • Help the property meet budgeted revenues, expenses, and Net Operating Income
  • Maintain accurate and organized records; audit resident files to ensure accuracy
  • Walk units and post move-out charges, statements, and security deposit refunds
  • Manage personnel, hiring, training, coaching, and developing on-site staff
  • Promote harmony and quality job performance of staff through support and effective leadership
  • Ensure staff compliance and consistency with Company policies and procedures
  • Implement marketing strategies and systems as outlined in the annual marketing plan
  • Deal with resident complaints, concerns, and requests to ensure resident satisfaction
  • Develop and implement resident retention programs
  • Show, lease, and move in prospective residents
  • Manage customer service and monitor maintenance staff's response times
  • Audit property appearance and ensure timely completion of repairs
  • Utilize property resources, equipment, and supplies economically

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or two years’ experience in the housing industry
  • Basic knowledge of Fair Housing Laws and OSHA requirements
  • Ability to understand and perform all on-site software functions; basic computer skills required
  • Physical requirements include remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periods, communicating with others, repeating motions, assessing accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work, moving about to accomplish tasks, ascending/descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, step stools, and the like, moving self into different positions, lifting and placing objects up to 25 lbs., operating machinery or power tools, operating motor vehicles and/or golf carts, identifying and inspecting objects, being able to work overtime, weekends, night hours (emergencies), working in small and/or enclosed spaces, traversing flat and non-flat terrain, working in extremely low or high temperatures, working in outdoor environments such as precipitation and wind, being exposed to hazardous chemicals

Qualifications
