Booking Producer
Location: New York. Business Area: News and Media. Ref #: 10053521.
About the role
Bloomberg Media empowers global business leaders with breaking news, expert opinion, and proprietary data distributed on every platform, across every time zone. Bloomberg Television is looking for a highly motivated political booking producer to join the politics team in-person at the Washington bureau. The role is responsible for booking newsmakers and top guests on market-moving stories, taking initiative on breaking news, finding appropriate voices under deadline pressure, and supporting the senior producer, line producer, and anchors.
In addition to securing high-profile guests, the producer plays a central editorial role in shaping each interview — including researching guests and topics, drafting interview questions, and producing a concise "one sheet" that gives anchors and producers the essential context for each segment. The role requires a broad interest in politics and government with a specialized focus on markets, finance, and the economy, plus a pre-established list of contacts and relationships with key players and decision makers in government and politics.
Responsibilities
- Land interviews with big names among key decision makers in Washington and beyond, for shows across the network.
- Own the editorial preparation for guest interviews, including research, question development, and production of a clear, concise interview "one sheet."
- Identify the central news line for each interview and develop sharp questions, follow-ups, and areas of accountability.
- Be proactive — pitch ideas, be creative, bring expertise to the table, and elevate content.
- Pitch newsmakers and stories.
- Develop strong relationships within the politics, business, and finance communities globally.
- Work closely with show-side producers and talent.
- Write and produce guest segments for broadcast.
- Work well under pressure in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
- Pivot and react as news events evolve.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of experience producing for live TV, including booking, writing, and producing.
- Knowledge of politics, government, business news, and the financial markets.
- Problem solving skills, with the ability to work under deadline pressure.
- Flexibility with hours.
