About the role

This is a Full-Time On-Site position available in East Alton, IL, USA. West Star Aviation is a leading independent MRO provider with over 78 years of experience. As an Aircraft Maintenance Technician, you will be part of a fast-growing maintenance repair organization dedicated to delivering customer service excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Performing general mechanical tasks on aircraft and related systems.
  • Removal and installation of panels and components.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving aircraft system/component issues.
  • De-fueling aircraft.
  • Engine removal/installations.
  • Operating ground support equipment.
  • Inspection and evaluation of the aircraft and components.
  • Aircraft movement and assistance in performance runs/taxiing.
  • Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment, and tooling.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English.
  • Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
  • Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
  • Maintain customer-oriented work habits.

Requirements

  • A High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid driver's license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.
  • AMT I: Airframe or Powerplant license is required. Airframe license is preferred. 0-2 years of experience in aviation maintenance, avionics, or similar.
  • AMT II: Airframe or Powerplant license is required. Airframe license is preferred. 2-4 years of experience working in aviation maintenance. Experience working on corporate aircraft is preferred but not essential.
  • AMT III: Airframe license is required; in addition, Powerplant license is highly preferred. 4-6+ years’ experience in aviation maintenance. Experience working on corporate aircraft is highly preferred but not essential.
  • AMT IV (Master): Airframe and Powerplant license is required. 6+ years’ experience in aviation maintenance. Subject matter expert in all areas of the job.

Qualifications

  • Self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments.
  • Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.
  • Must have reliable transportation to get to work each day.

SkillsBasic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases.
  • Effective communication skills (speaking, writing, reading).
  • Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines.
  • Troubleshooting or evaluating system operation.
  • Work with others in a professional manner.
  • Supervision work under supervision of assigned Team Leader and Director of Maintenance.
  • May be directed to supervise other technicians in some capacity.
  • Physical requirements: Lifts 50 lbs., routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting, routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands, climb ladders and stairs, work in small, restricted areas, standing for long periods of time.
  • Mental requirements: Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines, troubleshooting or evaluating system operation, work with others in a professional manner, supervision work under supervision of assigned Team Leader and Director of Maintenance.

    Pay

    The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $30-$46. Actual hourly rate will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience and performance.

    Schedule

    This is a 2nd Shift position. Details about the schedule will be provided upon hire.
