Boiler Technician (Day Shift Entry Level)

About the role

This position requires maintaining and operating Metrolina Greenhouses’ boiler systems, their components, and associated equipment, including biomass boilers, natural gas boilers, ESPs, wood and ash conveyor systems, large front-end loaders, and skid steers. The role involves performing regular inspections, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

• Work independently without constant supervision, managing tasks, troubleshooting issues, and making decisions
• Follow all safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment
• Work flexible hours and overtime as required for system maintenance and operation
• Operate and maintain front-end loaders and skid steers
• Troubleshoot issues and repair or replace components to ensure system functionality
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

Requirements

• Attention to detail
• Ability and willingness to work in confined spaces
• Mechanically inclined
• Ability to work unsupervised and independently
• Adherence to safety protocols
• Ability to work a flexible schedule
• Familiarity with large grading and loading equipment
• Willingness to learn and perform general maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, and hydronic systems associated with the boiler system
• Fluency in reading, writing, and understanding English
• Ability to work in all outdoor elements, including dust and allergens

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with boiler maintenance and operations
• Welding experience
• Electrical experience

Job Setting & Physical Demands

• Primarily outdoors, with occasional indoor office work for administrative duties
• Requires long-term ability for standing, sitting, squatting, bending, reaching, and twisting
• Must be able to operate machinery, including driving a scooter
• Must be able to lift 35 pounds unaided
• Occasional work in confined spaces

Schedule

This role requires working 12-hour shifts in a rotation that adjusts per season.
