Boiler Service Engineer
About the role
As a Field Service Engineer, you’ll perform preventative maintenance, installations, troubleshooting, and repairs on customer steam power boilers and associated equipment. You will travel to customer sites to resolve issues and ensure optimal customer satisfaction, focusing on steam boilers, auxiliary equipment, and environmental control systems. This role primarily serves clients in the US and Canada.
Field service assignments involve adapting to varying conditions at customer facilities while operating within estimated resources and ensuring quality. You will handle complex technical matters decisively to eliminate or minimize adverse impacts, maintain quality, and operate within budget. The role requires extensive travel and the ability to temporarily reside at customer sites, with on-call availability expected.
Responsibilities
- Provide and carry out engineering site assignments as directed by the Area Service Manager.
- Ensure the Technical Services team meets customers’ expectations and maintains a positive reputation.
- Develop new Service Engineer technical capabilities and maintain expertise in steam generating equipment.
- Act as the Company’s representative in resolving and reporting complex technical and logistics problems while maintaining good customer relations.
- Interface with customers to establish value and ensure billable time meets financial metrics.
- Conduct and manage inspections, performance testing, projects, and write detailed reports; provide maintenance and operations consultation.
- Work independently to advise on the commissioning, operation, maintenance, efficiency, and reliability of fossil-fired steam generator equipment and systems.
- Adjust to revised priorities and unforeseen problems at customer facilities while meeting tight schedules.
- Demonstrate strong technical writing skills to describe complex issues concisely and develop recommendations for customers.
- Learn and apply technical competency in the maintenance and operations of boilers, pulverizers, and auxiliary components.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Associate's Degree in Power Plant Technology, or up to 5 years of related field experience maintaining and servicing steam generating equipment.
- Must be authorized to live and work in the U.S.
- Ability to travel 75-80% of the time, including air and ground travel with short notice.

Physical Requirements
- Climbing, balancing, stooping/crouching, kneeling, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, and pulling.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Grasping and repetitive motion.
- Ability to work in confined spaces (e.g., fitting through an 18” diameter hole).
- Close visual acuity.
- Ability to work both inside and outside in varying weather conditions and handle high noise volumes.
- Ability to wear a respirator.
Pay
For U.S.-based candidates, the base pay range for this position is $78,800–$131,200 USD annually. The specific pay offered may be influenced by the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an Annual Incentive (AIP) bonus of 10%. A geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary may apply in certain areas.
