Job Description The Bureau of Construction Codes (BCC) is filling a vacant Boiler Inspector 10/E11. The position will be filled at level consistent with the preferred candidate's education and experience. Boiler Inspector 10 This position conducts periodic inspections of in-service low-pressure boilers of 5,000,000 Btu/Hr input and less to ensure continued safe operation and compliance with applicable laws, rules, and standards within assigned area of the state. View The Full Position Description Here : Boiler Inspector E11 This position conducts inspections of all new boiler installations to determine compliance with applicable codes. This position conducts periodic inspections of existing boilers to ensure continued safe operation, and inspection of used and reinstalled boilers within assigned area of the state. Required Education And Experience Education Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school. Experience Boiler Inspector 10 Three years of experience in the inspection, construction, maintenance, repair, or operation of high pressure or low pressure boilers, as a mechanical engineer, steam operating engineer, boilermaker, or boiler inspector. Boiler Inspector E11 Five years of experience in the inspection, construction, maintenance, repair, or operation of high-pressure boilers, as a mechanical engineer, steam operating engineer, boilermaker, or boiler inspector. Alternate Education And Experience Boiler Inspector 10 Possession of a valid Michigan Boiler Installer or Repairer license for 3 years may be substituted for the experience requirement. Additional Requirements And Information Successful completion of the Boiler Inspector examination conducted by the Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Bureau of Construction Codes and Fire Safety, is required for Boiler Inspector 10 positions. Possession of a commission issued by the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors is required for Boiler Inspector E11 and 12 positions.
