Body Technician

Job Summary

This position performs intermediate level body repairs under routine supervision. Responsibilities include inspecting damaged equipment, rebuilding and painting trucks, troubleshooting issues, and adhering to safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect damaged or wrecked equipment and create cost estimates for repairs
• Rebuild and paint wrecked trucks, focusing on fiberglass and cosmetic repairs
• Demonstrate proficiency in preventative maintenance, part replacement, and complex repairs related to tractor maintenance
• Accurately perform repairs to meet company and manufacturer specifications, maintain SRT and warranty guidelines
• Work independently to troubleshoot tractor issues and seek assistance as needed
• Understand and follow all shop safety procedures
• Maintain professional communication with JB Hunt personnel and customers
• Participate in Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) training for OE repairs
• Operate wrecker to move trucks into the shop for repair
• Perform post-maintenance diagnostics and testing

Shift Schedule

Shifts may vary based on location and business needs. Includes potential for night and weekend work, including overtime.

Qualifications

• 18 years old with 1-2 years of experience in body repair/semi-truck maintenance or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Willingness to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and weekends if needed
• A/C certification
• At least 1 year of DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brake experience
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 1-2 years of experience in body repair/semi-truck maintenance or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Willingness to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and weekends if needed
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to lift/move appliances up to 50 pounds
• Ability to multitask
• Ability to read documents and/or information in English
• Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Proficient active listening skills
• Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer
• Proficient deductive reasoning skills
• Proficient organizational skills
• Proficient problem-solving skills
• Proficient time management skills
