Job Summary
This position performs intermediate level body repairs under routine supervision. Responsibilities include inspecting damaged equipment, rebuilding and painting trucks, troubleshooting issues, and adhering to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect damaged or wrecked equipment and create cost estimates for repairs
- Rebuild and paint wrecked trucks, focusing on fiberglass and cosmetic repairs
- Demonstrate proficiency in preventative maintenance, part replacement, and complex repairs related to tractor maintenance
- Accurately perform repairs to meet company and manufacturer specifications, maintain SRT and warranty guidelines
- Work independently to troubleshoot tractor issues and seek assistance as needed
- Understand and follow all shop safety procedures
- Maintain professional communication with JB Hunt personnel and customers
- Participate in Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) training for OE repairs
- Operate wrecker to move trucks into the shop for repair
- Perform post-maintenance diagnostics and testing
Shift Schedule
Shifts may vary based on location and business needs. Includes potential for night and weekend work, including overtime.
Qualifications
- 18 years old with 1-2 years of experience in body repair/semi-truck maintenance or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Willingness to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and weekends if needed
- A/C certification
- At least 1 year of DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brake experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 1-2 years of experience in body repair/semi-truck maintenance or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Willingness to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and weekends if needed
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to lift/move appliances up to 50 pounds
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to read documents and/or information in English
- Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Proficient active listening skills
- Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer
- Proficient deductive reasoning skills
- Proficient organizational skills
- Proficient problem-solving skills
- Proficient time management skills
