Body Shop Service Writer

About the role

The Body Shop Service Writer/Advisor position at GTG Peterbilt is a key role within the company's service department. This position requires a strong commitment to excellent customer service and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Greet and consult service customers about their problems
• Aid in the coordination and communications of the service department
• Perform a variety of other service-related tasks
• Open and close work orders providing as much information as possible
• Record, adjust, and report technicians' time for work orders and payroll
• Greet customers in a professional and courteous manner in person or over the phone
• Help cover phone calls for the Body Shop
• Try to resolve customer complaints
• Schedule appointments
• Supervise and assist technicians with the diagnosis and repairs of their jobs
• Assist with warranty repair paper flow
• Consult with the parts department on special order parts and sublet repairs
• Instruct the following shift's service writer on any special instructions and appointments
• Keep Body Shop Manager informed of all customer complaints and technician problems
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Strong customer service skills
• General computer knowledge
• Demonstrate attention to detail
• Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check

Education

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. A combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is acceptable. A college degree or a certificate/degree from a trade school is preferred, but not required.
