About the Role

The Manager, Reconditioning Service oversees vehicle repair and painting processes, ensuring standards meet customer and company requirements. They manage staff recruitment, training, and development, while monitoring work volumes, staffing levels, and quality control. The role involves collaborating with support teams to optimize operations, managing vendor partnerships, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high-quality vehicle reconditioning and painting standards
• Oversee procurement, maintenance, and safety of shop equipment
• Lead and develop staff through recruitment, training, and performance evaluations
• Prepare estimates and monitor workflow, staffing, and process improvements
• Manage mechanics, vendor relationships, and vehicle diagnostics and repairs
• Enforce safety, environmental, and company policies
• Maintain vehicle records and ensure quality and accuracy in repairs
• Resolve operational issues and communicate reconditioning goals
• Handle diagnostics, repairs, and vehicle history documentation
• Evaluate employee performance and enforce company policies to foster a respectful and efficient work environment

Requirements

• BA/BS degree plus 7+ years of relevant experience or 11+ years without a degree
• Minimum 1 year of management or leadership experience
• Strong communication, organizational, and management skills
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and hold a valid driver’s license

Skills

• Preferred certifications include ASE, OEM mechanical, electrical, and A/C expertise
• Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations
• Leadership qualities such as mentoring, problem-solving, delegation, and active listening
• Proactive leader who values personal development, ethical behavior, and teamwork
• Capable of managing operational efficiencies and fostering a positive work environment
