About the role
The New York City Department of Transportation, Division of Bridges manages over 800 bridges and tunnels, ensuring safety and mobility. The Associate Project Manager III will oversee various aspects of bridge management, including design, construction, maintenance, and inspection.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field visits to identify deficient structural conditions and prepare design plans.
- Create detailed sketches and repair protocols for bridge maintenance.
- Maintain records of outstanding repair requests and ensure timely completion.
- Coordinate with DOT units and contractors to track and complete repair requests.
- Ensure compliance with NYS DOT Bridge Inspection Manual and NYSDOT OSS Inventory and Inspection manual.
- Review preliminary design drawings for future maintainability.
- Perform independent and group field visits to NYSDOT and NYCDOT-owned bridges and structures.
- Prepare responses to correspondence, attend court appearances, provide affidavits, and testify on behalf of the City.
- Sign and seal engineering and other official documents.
- Plan, guide, and review the work of subordinate engineers and other staff.
- Work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
Requirements
- Four years of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work.
- A master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college may substitute for one year of civil engineering experience.
- One year of civil engineering experience in bridge design, construction, maintenance, or inspections preferred.
- Strong background in AutoCAD, Acrobat, and MS Office Suite.
- Ability to drive city-owned vehicles.
- Valid New York State driver’s license with no restrictions.
- Organized and effective communicator with ability to compose formal letters and emails.
Qualifications
- One year of full-time satisfactory experience in supervising employees performing project management work.
- A baccalaureate degree in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, landscape architecture, construction, construction management, or related fields, with one year of full-time satisfactory experience in project management work.
- A master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college may substitute for one year of civil engineering experience.
- Four years of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work preferred.
- Preference for one year of civil engineering experience in bridge design, construction, maintenance, or inspections.
Skills

Benefits
Salary range: $104,720.00 – $141,970.00
