Responsibilities
- Responsible for the maintenance, operation and employment of the vessel navigation crew in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with all applicable State and Federal Regulations pertinent to the vessel and its operation
- Ensure the vessel is ready and seaworthy in all respects prior to getting underway
- Effectively manage the navigational watch at all times while underway or at anchor, and when appropriate, man a fire & security watch
- Appropriately train the crew ensuring response readiness
- Responsible for carrying out emergency drills regularly and in accordance with MSRC standards
- Be aware of the health of the crew and all lives aboard the vessel
- Care for the vessel and ensure its safety
- Coordinate all required medical treatments and the dispensing of all medicines aboard the vessel
- Take all necessary and reasonable steps to protect the navigation and response crew and others on board the vessel to the extent practical and feasible from infections and contagious diseases
- Support the Senior Boat Operator, as needed, with administrative responsibilities required of the vessel and crew, including but not limited to: preparing, maintaining and filing all records, budget information and documents in accordance with the established standards
- Effectively communicate to the Regional Marine Operations Manager in carrying out all tasks
Requirements
- Current USCG license, minimum of 100-ton preferred
- Ability to train and supervise the deck crew for operations and readiness
- Capable of prolonged, strenuous work onboard vessels at sea
- Effective leadership and written and oral communication skills
- Able to operate industrial equipment and their systems safely
- Able to operate a personal computer
- 40-Hour Hazwoper is desired
Physical Requirements
- Requires standing, lifting up to 45lbs
- Able to work in various temperatures indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions including heat, cold, rain or dry environments
- Able to perform work in various sea conditions, under all environmental conditions, often wet/oily decks

Salary Range: $117,218.4 to $137,572.50
