We’re growing—and we’re ready to add a surgeon to our thriving, progressive practice. Best Friends Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join our expanding, seven-doctor (and growing) team.
Responsibilities
- Practice high-level medicine with advanced technology, exceptional clinical support, and real input into the future growth of the hospital.
- Perform a wide range of advanced surgical procedures including orthopedic procedures (TPLO, fracture repair, FHO), neurosurgery (hemilaminectomy), and advanced soft tissue surgeries (cholecystectomy, median sternotomy, thoracotomy, liver lobe resection).
- Collaborate with a fully staffed team of experienced doctors and a highly skilled technical team to ensure you have the support needed to focus on excellent patient care.
- Enjoy a flexible schedule with options for a 3- or 4-day workweek, based on surgeon preference.
Requirements
- A strong background in veterinary medicine with a focus on surgery.
- Experience with advanced surgical techniques and technologies.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills to interact with clients and colleagues.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an AVMA accredited institution.
- Current license to practice veterinary medicine in the state of North Dakota.
- Experience with imaging modalities such as CT, ultrasound, and endoscopy.
- Knowledge of anesthesia protocols and emergency medicine.

Schedule Built for Real Work-Life Balance: 3- or 4-day workweek, based on surgeon preference (3 × 12-hour shifts or 4 × 10-hour shifts), consistent scheduling with flexibility built in, a leadership team that genuinely values sustainability and longevity in this profession, and no weekend or on-call requirements (though the ability to perform an emergent weekend surgery, if warranted, would be beneficial).
