Small Animal Boarded Veterinary Surgeon
Job Description
Provide high-quality surgical care across a broad range of soft tissue, orthopedic, and emergency procedures
Participate in emergency surgical coverage as part of a 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including Internal Medicine, Oncology, Behavior, Emergency, and Critical Care
Develop, oversee, and execute individualized treatment and surgical plans while prioritizing patient safety and comfort
Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients, referring veterinarians, and internal team members
Mentor and support Licensed Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, and surgical support staff
Participate in surgical case rounds and multidisciplinary discussions for complex cases
Utilize advanced diagnostic and surgical technologies, including digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, and in-house laboratory services
Maintain accurate and timely medical records using EzyVet and Smart Flow
Engage in continuing education to remain current with advancements in surgical techniques and standards of care

Qualifications
- DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary school
- Board Certification in Small Animal Surgery (ACVS or ECVS) or completion of a surgical residency with intent to pursue board certification
- Licensed or eligible for veterinary licensure in the State of New York
- Three or more years of clinical experience in small animal surgery
- Experience performing a wide range of soft tissue and orthopedic procedures
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume referral and emergency setting
- Interest in contributing to the continued growth and advancement of a surgical service
