BOARD CERTIFIED BEHAVIOR ANALYST (Central Pool - 2026 - 2027 School Year)
About the role
The Board Certified Behavior Analyst works with district leadership and school teams to assess students for and implement Applied Behavior Analysis practices and services. They provide guidance and support to teams on how to evaluate and implement ABA practices with specific students, including researching, designing, and implementing strategies to support the achievement of students with disabilities who exhibit challenging behaviors.
Responsibilities
- Supports with the response to requests for support in evaluating necessity for Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in schools
- Enhances the school teams' ability to effectively and efficiently manage student behaviors within their schools by supporting the gathering and reviewing of data, related counsel and advice/coaching that will allow teams to more effectively manage student behaviors within their schools using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
- Develops and provides professional development/training to central office and school staff
- Serves as a member of the Behavior Team and supports the development of behavior intervention plans for special education students with social/emotional needs
- Maintains a caseload of buildings/programs and students for which the Specialist provides consultation, coaching and services which may include direct and indirect services to students who require ABA as part of their IEP or 504 as determined by the special education or 504 team evaluation process
- Develops and provides professional development/training to central office and school staff
- Serves as a resource for developing district guidance and processes for Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Intervention Plans
- May directly supervise BCABAs and/or Registered Behavior Technicians
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Special Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, School Social Work, School Psychology, School Counseling or other related field is required
- Must hold and maintain a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teacher license with a Special Education Endorsement or Special Service Provider license OR a CDE Authorization (DPS will hire on an application receipt for 90 days)
- Must hold a National Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)
- Must have completed an 8-hour supervision CEU to be able to supervise RBTs
- Must have 3+ (Three or more) years of experience in either Special Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, School Social Work, School Psychology, School Counseling, or other Specialized Services
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, especially IDEA, Section 504 and Colorado House Bill 22-1260 (Access To Medically Necessary Services For Students) is required
- Experience supervising Registered Behavior Technicians is highly preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills required
- Application and knowledge of data driven interventions focused on improving student behavioral outcomes
- Ability to collect, monitor and interpret data
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated proficiency with Google Workspace
- Ability to multi-task and juggle management of several high-priority projects in parallel
- High degree of integrity in handling confidential information
Qualifications
- Valid Colorado Driver’s license, appropriate insurance coverage, and an acceptable driving record for the past three years

- Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us
- Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position

Salaries for the 2026–2027 school year are typically finalized and released mid-summer, with an effective date of August 1. If any updates or adjustments are made once the new salary schedule is finalized, all impacted individuals will receive the updated salary.
