About the Program
Miller's Health Systems, a 100% employee-owned company serving Indiana families since 1964, offers free Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training. This program provides classroom instruction and clinical practicum to prepare students for the state certification exam.
Training Details
- Classroom Instruction: 36-40 hours of classroom work with required tests. Students must pass all tests with 80% or higher (3 attempts allowed). Failure to pass results in dismissal from the program.
- Clinical Practicum: 75 hours of supervised training in a long-term care facility. The first 16 hours are with the class instructor; absence during this time results in dismissal. Students must demonstrate all required skills and may work with a preceptor for organization and time management. Evaluations are completed by the instructor and preceptor.
- All skills checklists (RCPs) must be signed off during clinicals by a licensed professional and submitted upon completion.
- A "clinical sign-in record" must be completed daily, including date, hours worked, student signature, and licensed supervisor's co-signature.
Requirements
- Pass a criminal background check, TB test, and physical prior to starting the course.
- Mandatory attendance for all classroom sessions to meet Indiana State Department of Health requirements.
- Adherence to facility-specific dress code requirements.
Unsatisfactory performance or attendance issues may result in dismissal from the program.
Certification and Employment
- Upon successful completion, students receive a certificate of completion and a scheduled state exam date.
- If hired and in good standing as a Miller’s Merry Manor employee, the company pays for the first state exam. A second attempt is also covered if needed.
- Non-employees must schedule and pay for their own exam.
