About the role

Miller's is proud to provide free training for those interested in a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Each student is required to complete classroom training and clinical training. Upon completion, students must pass the state exam to become a Certified Nurse's Aide.

Qualifications

Classroom Instruction

• Complete 36-40 hours of classroom work.
• Pass all tests administered during the classroom portion with a score of 80% or higher (each student has 3 attempts to pass).
• Failure to pass the classroom phase will result in not being placed into the clinicals.

Clinical Practicum

• Complete 75 hours of supervised practicum in a long-term care facility.
• Perform all required skills successfully during the practicum.
• The first 16 hours of practicum must be completed with the class instructor; absence during this time will result in being excused from the program.
• Students may be assigned a preceptor to assist with organization and time management.
• At program completion, both the preceptor and instructor will evaluate the student’s progress during the clinical.
• All skills checklists (RCP’s) not signed during the classroom must be demonstrated and signed off during the clinicals by the clinical instructor or another licensed nursing professional.
• Completed checklists must be submitted at the end of the clinicals with all required skills completed to be eligible for the state exam.
• Students must complete a “clinical sign-in record” daily, including date, actual hours worked, student signature, and co-signature by a licensed supervisor.

Requirements

• Pass a criminal background check, TB test, and physical prior to starting the course.
• Mandatory attendance to all classroom sessions to meet program requirements set by the Indiana State Department of Health.
• Unsatisfactory performance or attendance issues may result in dismissal from the course/program.
• Check with the facility for details on dress code requirements.

Additional Information

• Students who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of completion and a scheduled test date.
• If hired and in good standing as an employee, Miller’s Merry Manor will pay for the scheduled state exam. If the student does not pass the first test, Miller’s will pay for a second attempt.
• If not hired as an employee, the student will receive their application and certificate of completion to schedule their own test at their own expense.
