Nursing Assistant Training

Miller's Health Systems provides free training for those interested in becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant.

• Classroom Instruction: Each student must complete 36-40 hours of classroom work and pass all tests with 80%.
• Passing Classroom Phase: Students must pass the classroom phase within three attempts to proceed to clinical training.
• Clinical Practicum: Students must complete 75 hours of supervised practicum in a long-term care facility, performing all required skills successfully.
• Preceptor Assistance: The first 16 hours of practicum are supervised by the class instructor, and subsequent hours may be with a preceptor who assists with organization and time management.
• Evaluation Sheet: Both the preceptor and instructor must complete an evaluation sheet regarding the student's progress during the clinical.
• Skills Checklists: All skills checklists (RCP’s) must be demonstrated and signed off during the clinicals by the clinical instructor or another licensed nursing professional.
• Daily Sign-In Record: A "clinical sign-in record" must be completed daily by the student and signed by a qualified licensed professional, including date, hours worked, student's signature, and cosigned by the supervisor.
• Criminal Background Check: Students must pass a criminal background check, TB test, and physical before starting the course.
• Attendance Policy: Attendance to all classroom sessions is mandatory to meet program requirements.

Unsatisfactory performance or attendance issues may result in dismissal from the course/program.

Additional Information:

• Dress Code Requirements: Students should check with the facility for details on the dress code requirements.
• Test Date: Students will be scheduled for a test date upon successful completion of the course.
• Testing Fee: Miller's Merry Manor will cover the cost of the required state exam if the student is hired and in good standing as an employee.
• Retake Option: If the student does not pass the initial test, they may retake it at Miller's expense for a second time.
• Application and Certificate: If not employed, students will receive their application and certificate of completion to schedule their own test at their own expense.
