What This Job Involves
- Maintains monitoring of various computerized building automation systems to ensure they operate within specified parameters.
- Monitors the alarm screen of various BMS systems.
- Performs virtual tours to look for equipment running outside of design parameters or outside of the schedule.
- Works alongside site mechanics and BMS engineers/HVAC techs on troubleshooting equipment issues and managing equipment operations.
- Dispatches alarms on various BMS systems and performs virtual energy tours using the site’s BMS systems.
- Documents all changes to the BMS via an electronic document system.
- Notifies end users on off-hours regarding scientific equipment in alarm.
- Reviews pass-down emails and back to the last shift worked for awareness.
- Reviews Corrigo for any open priority work orders.
- Reviews alarm screens from the previous 24 hours.
- Reviews each site’s electronic white board for any new entries from previous shifts.
- Ensures completion of virtual tours and documentation.
- Ensures completion of training for each system on time.
- Mentors operators on reviewing BAS systems and troubleshooting alarms.
- Reviews emails regarding issues from their shift and alarms.
- Escalates site BMS alarms to the customer, BMS building manager, BAS director, BAS engineer, and BAS SME.
- Prioritizes response to critical alarms impacted by a site outage.
Required
- 3 years of relevant experience.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- A general understanding of building automation systems with an emphasis on Siemens (Desigo/Insight), Honeywell EBI, Web CTRL, Autologic, etc.
- Knowledge of commercial HVAC equipment and its control and alarm in an industrial/commercial environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel).
- Ability to function effectively in a dynamic work environment.
- Quick learning ability.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work both in a team and independently.
- Able to sit for long periods of time.
Preferred
- Trade school with an emphasis on HVAC.
- Specialized training/certification in BAS or HVAC systems.
- Previous experience working in CMMS.
