BMET II
About the role
The BMET II position at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center within the Clinical Engineering department requires a minimum AAS degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or equivalent work/military experience. Candidates should have 3 to 7 years of hands-on experience and a medical equipment manufacturer certification. Essential skills include developed troubleshooting abilities, knowledge of various medical devices, proficiency in MS-Office and other computer applications, understanding of medical terminology, and familiarity with life support/lifesaving equipment manufacturing certifications.
Responsibilities
- Conducts preventive maintenance inspections using appropriate productivity & quality measures.
- Effectively responds to service requests, troubleshoots & repairs medical equipment, and demonstrates good judgment on performing component vs. circuit board level repairs.
- Inspects new medical devices & equipment with competence appropriate to job proficiency level.
- Aid in maintaining and fulfilling department/organization’s regulatory requirements and goals.
- Participate in shop safety practices on the use of departmental electronic test equipment.
- Assist in On Call duties after normal working hours, including responding to/correcting medical equipment recalls/device alerts from manufacturers and/or FDA.
- Provide in-services to both operational and technical staff for specified medical devices.
Requirements
- Minimum AAS degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent work/military experience in Biomedical Engineering.
- 3 to 7 years of hands-on experience, preferred.
- Medical equipment manufacturer certification, preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of electronic test equipment.
- Developed troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge and function of various medical devices.
- Knowledge of MS-Office and other computer applications.
- Understanding of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of computers and networks.
- Lifesupport/lifesaving equipment manufacturer certification, preferred.
- Eligible for AAMI/ICC certification.
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering or related field, and a current AAMI/ICC certification.
Skills
- Confidence in using test equipment to diagnose and service medical equipment.
- Ability to assist clinical staff in the use of medical equipment.
- Documentation of all work performed.
- Participation in the Biomedical Engineering emergency on-call program.

Pay
The BMET II position offers an hourly wage range of $34.90 - $47.11 per hour, contingent upon the candidate's educational background, skills, and professional experience.
Schedule
The BMET II position operates on a Day shift.
