Blood Collections Supervisor

About the Role
As a Blood Collection Supervisor, you will lead a team to ensure donors have an exceptional experience while upholding the Red Cross’s commitment to compassionate service. The role includes paid phlebotomy training and opportunities for career advancement within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Supervise blood collection staff, including training and performance management.
- Drive results while maintaining a high level of respect for both staff and donors.
- Personally connect with donors, listening to their stories and emphasizing the value of their contributions.
- Foster a friendly and engaging environment to encourage repeat donations.
- Collaborate with co-workers to set up and tear down equipment for mobile blood drives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and 4–8 years of related work experience.
- Minimum of three years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Customer service experience with strong verbal communication skills.
- Ability to discuss medical procedures with donors, families, and physicians.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Physical ability to lift, push, or pull heavy weights, stand or sit for extended periods, and adapt to irregular hours.
- Minimum height of 60 inches to safely operate Red Cross vehicles (where applicable).
- Basic computer skills are desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (e.g., CNA, MA, EMT).
- Leadership experience exceeding three years in a healthcare setting.
Schedule
Staff work a variable schedule, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Overnight travel may be required in some locations. Schedules are provided 2–3 weeks in advance.
Pay
Starting salary of $60,000 per year, with potential increases based on experience.
