Blood Collections Supervisor

About the Role

As a Blood Collection Supervisor, you will lead a team dedicated to ensuring donors have an exceptional experience. You’ll use your leadership, compassion, and customer service skills to drive results while fostering a respectful and engaging environment. The Red Cross provides paid phlebotomy training, enabling you to develop your skills and advance your career within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Supervise blood collection staff, including training and performance management.
• Drive results and uphold high standards of customer service and respect for donors and team members.
• Personally connect with donors, listen to their stories, and communicate the value of their contributions.
• Create a friendly and fun environment to encourage repeat donations.
• Collaborate with co-workers to set up and tear down equipment for mobile blood drives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree OR a combination of education and 4–8 years of relevant work experience.
• Minimum of three years of supervisory or leadership experience.
• Customer service experience and strong verbal communication skills.
• Ability to discuss procedures and medical issues with patients, families, and physicians.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Physical ability to lift, push, or pull heavy weights, stand or sit for long periods, and adapt to irregular hours and frequent schedule changes.
• Minimum height of 60 inches to safely operate Red Cross vehicles (where applicable).
• Basic computer skills are desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (e.g., CNA, MA, EMT).
• Leadership experience exceeding three years in a healthcare setting.

Schedule

This role follows a variable schedule, which may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Overnight travel may be required in some locations. Schedules are provided 2–3 weeks in advance.

Pay

Starting salary of $60,000 per year, with potential increases based on experience.
