About the Role
Performs accurate and timely varied or specialized testing in Blood Bank. Performs procedures accurately and completely following established infection control practices and adhering to quality assurance standards. Conducts testing using computer-linked automated electronic equipment and/or manual methodologies. Performs routine procedures requiring subjective analysis and consults with technical supervisors and pathologists regarding atypical results. Reports clinical data accurately and efficiently to ensure timely patient information for caregivers. Performs statistical analysis relevant to analytical methodologies and records workload statistics.
Instructs student technicians and staff members, providing technical guidance as required. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care during phlebotomy or other direct patient services. Prepares blood samples and body fluids for analysis, ensuring sample appropriateness and patient identity. Uses quality control methods to determine result acceptability and takes corrective action to resolve issues. Performs procedures and minor repairs relevant to routine operation and maintenance of analytical equipment. Meets established turnaround times (TATs) during routine and heavy workflow, prioritizing tasks effectively.

- Maintain and perform minor repairs on analytical equipment.
- Meet established turnaround times during routine and high-volume workflows.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a science-related field or HEW certification as a medical technologist in lieu of a BS degree.
- Previous clinical laboratory employment.
- Familiarity with personal computers.
- Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Pay
Pay Range: $32.00 - $32.00 per hour for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ based on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part-time). The pay range reflects base compensation and does not include potential bonuses, incentive compensation, differential pay, or benefits.
