Responsibilities
- Conduct quality laboratory testing and result reporting in compliance with the goals and standards of the department, hospital and applicable accrediting organizations (AHCA, CLIA, COLA, and JCAHO).
- Accurately identify each patient specimen and testing orders.
- Ensure specimen integrity and identification and resolve specimens not meeting testing criteria.
- Identify and resolve pending specimen results from laboratory information system for assigned departments.
- Report pertinent information to the physician, patient care area or supervisor (e.g., panic values, instrument malfunctions, delay in testing, reagent or supply depletion).
- Note “dates opened” and “expiration dates” on reagents, controls etc.
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas and keep work areas stocked.
- Follow safety procedures and utilize all safety devices and personal protective equipment per protocol.
- Follow troubleshooting procedures to correct deficiencies or problems as they occur with instruments and equipment.
- Perform maintenance checks, start-ups and shutdowns.
- Answer the telephone, greet customers and provide consultation and technical support to the physicians, phlebotomists and nursing staff.
- Document quality control and out of range results.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Medical Technology or equivalent
- Licensed in the State of Florida at the technologist levels
- One or more specialties in Microbiology, Immunohematology or all licenses
Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences and Medical Technology
- American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification
- One year of clinical experience

Pay
- Minimum hourly: $34.00
- Maximum hourly: $45.65
