Block Clerk - Part Time on Fridays

ADESA, a Carvana-owned company, operates in over 50 locations throughout the US. Our auto auctions span up to 200 acres and provide vehicle services including repair, reconditioning, and auction remarketing. Many sites also serve as market hub distribution centers. Our inventory includes hundreds of thousands of vehicles across North America, ranging from retail to commercial and OEM.

About the role

Reporting to the Office Manager or other designated manager, the block clerk enters sale information for in-lane and/or online LiveBlock transactions (including price, bid badge number, if-bids, and announcements) to ensure efficient and accurate data transfer into the appropriate computer system. Corrections are documented on the appropriate form when errors occur. The role requires knowledge, practice, and adherence to company policies, procedures, and state or federal laws.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure customers receive prompt, efficient, and courteous attention for all contacts and transactions.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, orderly work environment, and friendly disposition by greeting others.
  • Resolve customer complaints in a friendly and courteous manner; advise management of serious complaints or incidents.
  • Review pre-populated AMS data and enter missing or modified announcements as requested by the dealer or auctioneer.
  • Enter sale data into the LiveBlock system by listening to the auctioneer, watching monitors for internet bids, and rapidly entering increasing bid amounts.
  • Ensure accurate recording of sale price and bidder numbers; document corrections on the appropriate form and submit to the manager.
  • Maintain clear communication with the auctioneer and dealer representative.
  • Attend weekly or monthly informational meetings to stay updated on operating systems, policies, or procedures.
  • Monitor working area conditions and equipment to ensure compliance with corporate standards for cleanliness, maintenance, and safety; report breakdowns or maintenance needs to Facilities immediately.
  • Follow proper procedures for employee and customer accidents, injuries, or property loss/damage; report all incidents to the manager.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the designated manager.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • One (1) year of clerical experience with basic computer and data entry skills required.
  • Must be 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license that meets company requirements.
  • Able to safely drive a variety of vehicle makes, models, and sizes.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and applications.

Schedule

Part-time, Fridays from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

Physical activity requirements range from light to medium physical work, including:

  • Constant: standing, watching, touching, listening, walking, talking.
  • Frequent: bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting, grasping, pushing, pulling.
  • Potential: running, jumping, yelling, or other rapid/forceful movement in emergency situations.

Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception, and field of vision comparable to clerical, administrative, or machine operator positions. The role is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions, including temperature changes, weather, ambient noise, fumes, odors, and dust. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Hiring is contingent on passing a complete background check.
