Blender Operator - 2nd Shift (2:45PM - 11:00PM)

About the role

The Blender Operator is responsible for the charging of hand adds to the blenders, verifying the lot numbers and weights of raw materials, staging the necessary raw materials, following batch card instructions, reviewing production schedules, and preparing the blender to accept the next compound charge as per customer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Learn Line 4 Blending area or fill in on another job as needed.
• Verify all TA item code numbers and record lot numbers of staged materials on the batch card before charging the blender.
• Clean and inspect the blender to ensure readiness for the next charge.
• Compound charge, stage necessary raw materials, and prepare the blender for the next charge as scheduled.
• Charge all hand adds to the blender according to the blender batch card.
• Report any variations from procedures to supervision and document these variations on the batch card.
• Coordinate blender production with other operational areas.
• Review and follow production schedules and customer packaging instructions.
• Ensure proper packing, labeling, weighing, and sealing of all products.
• Report any schedule, instruction, or potential problems to the Bagger Leadman.
• Generate labels and properly align and affix them to the package containers.
• Perform changeovers of packaging equipment in a timely, efficient, and safe manner, using required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Communicate with mill area operators after changeovers are completed.
• Prepare packaging materials to meet future shift schedule requirements (e.g., Gaylords, Supersacks, etc.).
• Enter finished product data into the computer system.
• Practice good housekeeping and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Meet or exceed all plant key performance indicators.
• Participate in and help sustain Lean Manufacturing initiatives.

• Able to drive (or learn to drive) a forklift and electric hand truck.
