Blast & Explosion Testing Engineer (Blast Consultant)

Baker Engineering and Risk Consultants, Inc. (BakerRisk®) is an employee-owned, global consulting firm that manages hazards and risks through high-value services, products, and research. The team specializes in technical risk management and the prediction, prevention, and investigation of potentially catastrophic events, including explosions, fires, and toxic material releases. The corporate office in San Antonio, TX is seeking a full‑time entry‑level engineer in the Blast Effects section.

Responsibilities

• Support testing related to flammability and explosion phenomena
• Assist mid‑level and senior staff in explosion consequence assessments and incident investigations
• Prepare technical proposals, reports, and presentations

Requirements

• Mechanical Engineering degree or related discipline (MS or PhD preferred)
• Ability to support multiple projects while meeting deadlines and working with a variety of personnel under a range of conditions (test ranges, office, industrial, and accidental explosion sites)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Field or lab‑scale testing experience
• Frequent travel required
