About the role

A Blanker Operator is responsible for maintaining the operation of the Blanking Department by producing blanks required by the blanker schedule. The Blanker Operator promotes safety, quality, and sanitation to avoid product defects and contamination. Machine operators ensure quality through visual inspection of the blank and make machine adjustments as needed. Operators also perform and complete other work as assigned by the supervisor and assist other operators when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Gather required operating materials to run the scheduled order at the start of the shift.
  • Check the schedule to determine the assigned machine for the shift.
  • Inspect the assigned blanker to ensure all guards are in place, assess roll alignment, brakes, housekeeping, and paperwork.
  • Notify the Lead Operator of any failures.
  • Monitor the quality of blanks and print quality continuously during production; make minor adjustments to the machine as needed.
  • Notify the Lead Operator or maintenance if quality issues persist.
  • Complete roll changes or print changes on the machine as required by the schedule and document them on the production report.
  • Record production amounts and scrap produced on the production report.
  • Clean the machine during the shift to avoid malfunctions and maintain a safe work area.
  • Unstack blanks from the machine, load them onto a blank cart, attach necessary paperwork and a blank sample, and prepare the cart for moving.
  • Backflush the cart and stage it for warehouse pickup.
  • Attend all plant-wide or department-wide meetings.
  • Complete changeovers and Conversion Cart Inventory check sheets.
  • Respond promptly to communications via the PA system.

Safe Quality Food Responsibilities

  • Comply with all safety standards; perform all work safely without shortcuts.
  • Report injuries immediately to your supervisor and any potential safety hazards observed.
  • Comply with all quality standards by not accepting, making, or passing defective products and reporting potential quality issues.
  • Comply with all sanitation standards; practice good sanitation and housekeeping to maintain facility appearance and condition.

Pay

$21.10 - $24.46 per hour
