ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Compactor:
- Provide a strong influence by self-example that "safety first" is truly our behavior.
- Process coils through compaction procedures to designated length and shape.
- Apply identification tag to coil per work instructions and verify matching of information with the identification tag.
- Communicate with inspector, reforming tube op, roller operator, and shift lead concerning the quality of the coils after compaction.
- Maintain properly cleanliness of machine and area in general.
- Work diligently on compact coils during a delay or gaps in production flow unless otherwise directed by shift leader.
- Monitor coil handling by tow motor driver to ensure first quality coils during the parking process.
- Stacker:
- Maintain safe and efficient operation of the stacker, wire machine, and exit operation of bundles.
- Monitor all cameras in area of operation.
- Ensure proper separation of different grades of material and sizes.
- Set wire tie machine to the number of ties that adequately holds the bundle together for future processing.
- Communicate with saw operator to ensure utilization of yield and processing.
- Manual Pockets:
- Safe and efficient operations of overhead crane.
- Ensure proper separation of different grades of material and sizes.
- Communicate with saw operator to ensure utilization of yield and processing.
- Maintain adequate inventory of banding material and clips.
- Inspect and ensure proper operation of manual banding equipment.
SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Other duties as assigned
- Participation in relevant continuous improvement program
MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Working knowledge of all functions of the rolling mill equipment
- Excellent communication skills including both verbal and written
PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED
- While performing the duties of (this job), the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, etc.
- The employee is frequently required to make use of their hands for technical tasks
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Visual ability with or without correction
- Communication abilities
HEALTH AND SAFETY
- Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations
- Follow Company safety rules
- Report the absence of or defect in any protective equipment or clothing to the Supervisor or Manager immediately
- Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be used or worn: Safety shoes Safety glasses Hearing protection Hard Hat
- Some areas may require additional personal protective equipment such as: Respirators; the respirator requires you to be clean shaven in order to comply with company policies and procedures as well as OSHA Regulations. Fire Retardant clothing Acid PPE
- Report to the Safety Coordinator, Group Lead or Supervisor any contravention of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations or Company policy
- Must follow all Lock out Tag out (LOTO) guidelines for designated machines
- Must follow all Environmental Policies and Regulations
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
