Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Blades Senior Aircraft Technician to join the Blades Repair team in Grand Prairie, TX.
About the role
You will assist and lead other technicians in a team-oriented environment, perform incoming inspections, execute repair tasks, and ensure final completion procedures to deliver a quality product.
From building to servicing the next generation of aerospace, the team focuses on quality, productivity, and efficiency, ensuring the highest standards of care and safety in every aircraft assembled and maintained.
The role is based at Airbus Helicopters U.S. regional headquarters in Grand Prairie, a suburb of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area, where over 1,000 employees work.
Responsibilities
- Technical (75%):
- Tear down, clean, inspect, repair, assemble, and close out components.
- Understand methods and procedures for incoming inspections.
- Use all required hand tools to execute inspections.
- Perform cleaning, stripping, and repairs on all blade types.
- Apply repair techniques to return piece parts to service.
- Assemble finished products and complete final paperwork, including QA creation of 8130-3 forms.
- Create technical emails and reports for Airbus Helicopters (AH) and Airbus Helicopters Deutschland (AHD).
- Maintain high attention to detail.
- Ensure completed work complies with customer specifications, FAA regulations, manufacturer’s maintenance manuals, blueprints, RDAS, Airworthiness Directives (A.D.’s), etc.
- Minimize scrap levels.
- Customer Interface (10%):
- Identify internal and external customers and proactively understand their requirements.
- Seek feedback from customers and act on it.
- Support others to achieve agreed service levels.
- Prioritize business and customer interests over local or individual interests.
- Logistics (5%):
- Raise issues early and make them visible.
- View problems as opportunities for improvement.
- Listen respectfully and appreciate challenges reported by team members.
- Analyze root causes and seek assistance when needed.
- Accountability (5%):
- Ensure clarity of role and responsibilities.
- Make relevant decisions and take ownership of their implementation.
- Adhere to commitments on time, cost, and quality.
- Communicate early if commitments cannot be met.
- Address root causes of issues to prevent recurrence.
- Objectives (5%):
- Know, apply, and promote agreed standards.
- React immediately to deviations from standards.
- Persist in overcoming obstacles to complete tasks successfully.
- Regularly review own work for accuracy and safety without compromising quality.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education:
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
- Preferred: A&P License or trade school experience.
- Experience:
- Strong expertise on a minimum of 2 Airbus blade component models.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in aviation (an A&P or Train the Trainer Certificate can substitute for 1 year).
- Experience resolving technical issues involving AH/AHD.
- Ability to work in a team within diverse/multiple stakeholder environments.
- Management skills.
- Recognized expertise in blade repairs.
- Ability to train and foster team members.
- Licensure/Certifications:
- Preferred: FAA Airframe Certificate or equivalent.
- Travel: Less than 10% domestic and international.
- Citizenship: Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Physical Requirements:
- 90% onsite.
- Vision: Ability to see and read computer screens, electronic equipment, documents, reports, and engineering drawings.
- Hearing: Ability to participate in conversations in person, via teleconference or phone, and hear safety warnings or alarms on the production floor.
- Speaking: Ability to participate in conversations and meetings.
- Equipment Operation: Ability to operate office equipment (e.g., computers, telephones, copiers) and production tools (e.g., hydraulic lifts).
- Carrying/Lifting: Ability to carry/lift up to 50 lbs/23 kg.
- Pushing/Pulling: Ability to push/pull small office furniture and some equipment/tools.
- Sitting: Ability to sit for long periods during meetings or computer work.
- Squatting/Kneeling: Ability to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
- Standing: Ability to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
- Walking: Ability to walk through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
- Required PPE includes safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, and/or protective gloves as required by site or customer site.
- Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits; appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required.
