Blackstone Real Estate Debt Strategies (“BREDS”) is the largest alternative asset manager of real estate credit, managing $78 billion of investor capital. BREDS originates loans and makes debt investments across global private and public real estate credit markets, spanning the capital structure and risk spectrum. The group also manages Blackstone Mortgage Trust (NYSE: BXMT), a publicly-traded commercial mortgage REIT, and is fully integrated into Blackstone Real Estate, the largest owner of commercial real estate globally.

About the role

The BREDS Valuations team coordinates the valuations process for Blackstone’s Real Estate Credit business, including overseeing investment fair values and preparing presentation materials for senior management.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate mark-to-market estimates and projected fund returns pursuant to firm policies for real estate debt and other credit instruments.
  • Execute the valuation control framework, including communication with auditors and third-party providers, and independent valuation verification according to firm policies and procedures.
  • Maintain fund models supporting investment-level return expectations to facilitate long-term financial projections for investors, senior management deliverables, and Blackstone Corporate reporting.
  • Drive the preparation of periodic analytics and scenario analysis (e.g., impacts of loan maturities and capital markets activity) to provide strategic insight into business performance and future results.
  • Assist in the preparation of management materials for Blackstone’s earnings release and other marketing-related schedules and exhibits.
  • Coach and oversee the work product of junior professionals.
  • Interface with stakeholders across the firm, including the BREDS Investment and Asset Management teams, Investor Relations, and Fund Accounting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of valuation experience at a public accounting firm, third-party valuation provider, or investment bank/asset manager.
  • Advanced Excel and modeling skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in the financial services and/or real estate industries is preferred.
  • Progress toward a finance-related professional qualification (e.g., CFA, CPA) is preferred.

Pay

Expected annual base salary range: $150,000 - $250,000. Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components, including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. For roles located outside of the U.S., salary bands will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.
