Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinate and perform the processing and storage of biorepository samples (solid and liquid), adhering to strict protocols to ensure sample integrity
- Perform quality control checks as needed on processed samples to ensure suitability for research use
- Oversee the proper labeling, tracking, and storage of biospecimens within the repository
- Absorb and prioritize incoming requests for biospecimens, working collaboratively with researchers to fulfill their needs efficiently
- Maintain thorough documentation of all requests and ensure accurate tracking from submission to fulfillment
- Consults with Manager/Director on project designs and execution on frequent and as needed basis
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
- Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in a life science field. Over 3 years of experience with biospecimen handling, processing, and storage in biorepository environment
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong knowledge of biospecimen processing protocols and laboratory best practices
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and data auditing
- Independently manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Salary Range
Salary Range: 48,000 - 50,000
