We are seeking an experienced Biometrics Technician in Spokane, WA to support a Department of Defense (DoD) customer. The role involves biometric collection and analysis in direct collaboration with the customer on a daily basis.
About the role
The Biometrics Technician will perform day-to-day operations of a complex computer-based biometric and biographic information collection system, maintain accurate data, and ensure compliance with established requirements.
Responsibilities
- Collect biometrics and biographical data using commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and government off-the-shelf (GOTS) biometrics collection equipment.
- Provide detailed briefings explaining biometric collection requirements and direct self-collection of biometric samples.
- Enter data into computer systems via computer terminal from direct contact with persons being registered, identify errors or omissions, and take corrective actions.
- Conduct research of archival records, computer listings, and other pertinent data to reconcile discrepancies and obtain required information.
- Perform quality assurance to ensure accuracy and completeness of collected data.
- Conduct training on the use and operation of portable and fixed registration systems in accordance with systems’ user guides.
- Conduct technical research on Electronic Biometric Transmission Specification (EBTS) standards to ensure compliance for the government sponsor.
- Utilize established procedures, formats, and software tools to ensure timely reporting of biometric data for training support and contingency operations.
- Attend biometrics-related courses, conferences, and visit associated laboratories and agencies to assess emerging biometric technologies.
- Provide technical biometric expertise in the Research & Development (R&D) and Operational Evaluation (OE) of government programs.
- Research and update current Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) to align with industry specifications.
- Recommend, manage, prepare, receive, and inventory COTS and GOTS software and hardware solutions by researching vendors for products best suited to meet government requirements.
Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret US Government Clearance with SCI eligibility (US Citizenship required).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in the field of Biometrics or Forensics.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to utilize standardized scientific literature and develop clear, accurate, and logical written reports.
- Ability to access biometric computer databases and update and retrieve specialized reports.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet time-critical tasks, perform standardized technical assignments, and work unmonitored.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Biology, Chemistry, and/or Forensic Sciences or 4+ years of relevant experience in Biometrics or Forensics.
- Law enforcement experience.
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
Schedule
- Full-time, on-site position in Spokane, WA.
- May occasionally require working outside of normal business hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Some travel required (0-15%).
Pay
Hiring hourly range: $35 to $41 per hour. The final rate will be determined based on education, experience, knowledge, skills, internal equity, and market alignment.
