Biometrics (Fingerprint) Technician - On Call
About the role
This position supports the mission of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Application Support Center (ASC) in North Miami Beach, FL. As a Biometric Technician (BT), you will work as part of a dynamic team assisting with ASC operations. Amentum provides all required job training for qualified candidates. This is an on-call (casual) position, not a regular full-time or part-time role.
On-call employees must be available Monday through Friday from 7:45 AM to 4:15 PM for substitute coverage as needed. While efforts are made to notify personnel in advance, you may occasionally be notified the night before or the day of. Hours are not guaranteed, and income may vary. This role is ideal for candidates seeking flexibility, supplemental income, or an active work environment without a committed schedule.
Responsibilities
- Complete biometrics registration for applicants seeking legal immigration to the United States.
- Ensure all individuals entering the ASC are approved applicants or visitors, providing interior and exterior crowd control.
- Enforce ASC rules and policies while delivering front-line customer service as a representative of Amentum and the U.S. Government.
- Provide high-level customer service, maintaining a cheerful and respectful demeanor while interacting with the public.
- Safeguard Personal Identifiable Information (PII), including applicant paperwork, identifications, and electronic biometric data.
- Perform quality biometrics processing, capturing electronic fingerprints, photographs, and signatures within established processing times.
- Screen applicants for valid appointment notices and identification before allowing entry into the facility.
- Use crowd control barriers (stanchions or rails) to ensure safe and organized entry.
- Visually inspect applicants and their belongings prior to entry; decline entry during health crises if required.
- Conduct periodic interior and exterior facility checks and report concerns to the Site Supervisor.
- Assist in contacting local law enforcement or first responders when necessary.
- Manage administrative paperwork, including tracking processing times, reconciling biometrics captured, maintaining visitor logs, and completing facility check sign-offs.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to speak and write in English.
- Ability to stand for the duration of scheduled shifts, excluding breaks.
- Ability to hold and grasp applicants’ hands to obtain quality fingerprints.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with the public.
- Basic computer and typing skills.
- Successful completion of biometrics training and certification within sixty days.

Pay
$18.87 per hour.

Schedule
