Biomedical Equipment Technologist

Job Summary

This position supports Montefiore Mount Vernon's clinical, biomedical, analytical, laboratory, and scientific systems and devices. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, repair, calibration, inspection, documentation, and assisting with new equipment installations.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance inspections on biomedical and clinical equipment
• Conduct testing, calibration, and safety checks
• Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs
• Inspect, evaluate, and document equipment condition
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in CMMS
• Assist with installation, configuration, and commissioning of new equipment
• Respond to service requests and prioritize work
• Collaborate with clinical staff to resolve equipment issues
• Provide basic user education and guidance

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field required
• Minimum of 1–3 years of experience working with biomedical or medical equipment in a hospital or healthcare setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) preferred

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Work in clinical environments, laboratories, and bioengineering shop areas
• Exposure to patient care areas, mechanical systems, and electrical equipment
• May require lifting, moving, or installing equipment (moderate to heavy lifting)
• Travel between Montefiore sites, including Mount Vernon, required
