Biomedical Equipment Specialist - Sterilizer

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for sterilizer systems, ensuring equipment reliability and compliance with manufacturer specifications and healthcare regulations.
  • Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and maintain sterilizers and other advanced biomedical equipment.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on high-end clinical equipment.
  • Diagnose complex equipment issues and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership and clinical teams to develop maintenance strategies that support patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate service records, maintenance documentation, and regulatory compliance reports.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Biomedical Equipment Technicians (BMETs) when needed.
  • Share specialized knowledge and best practices across facilities and regional teams.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Travel extensively throughout the assigned territory to support healthcare facilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience in Healthcare Technology Management (HTM).
  • Minimum 7 years of experience repairing, maintaining, and supporting biomedical or electro-mechanical equipment in a healthcare environment.
  • Advanced expertise in sterilizer systems.
  • OEM training or certification on Steris and/or Getinge sterilization equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for complex biomedical systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the assigned region.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting one or more advanced healthcare technology modalities, including: Clinical Laboratory Equipment, Medical Imaging Systems, Radiation Oncology Equipment, High-End Biomedical Devices, Device Integration & Networking, Catheterization Lab Systems, Electrophysiology Monitoring Systems, Real-Time Location Systems (RTLS), Alarm Management & Middleware Solutions.

The successful candidate will independently troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and optimize complex medical equipment, provide technical leadership, support capital planning initiatives, mentor technical staff, and ensure equipment performance meets manufacturer specifications and healthcare regulatory requirements. Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and presentation skills are essential for success in this role.
