Biomed Technician

About the Role

The Biomedical Equipment Technician Level 2 maintains, installs, calibrates, and repairs clinical equipment with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include supporting networked systems, mentoring BMET 1 technicians, and teaching basic skills. The role requires strong communication, customer service, and technical problem-solving abilities, along with a comprehensive understanding of clinical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medical systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on clinical equipment.
• Troubleshoot complex medical devices and networked systems.
• Mentor BMET 1 technicians and teach basic technical skills.
• Maintain accurate equipment inventory and parts records.
• Oversee department projects and provide support for direct patient care equipment.
• Troubleshoot independently, including during on-call duties.

Requirements

• Certifications required within one year: Certified Associate in Biomedical Technology (CABT) and Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) from AAMI.
• Possess a driver’s license.
• Relevant experience or an associate’s degree in a related field.
