Biology PT Faculty (POOL)

About the role
The Biology Program is seeking part-time, adjunct faculty to teach introductory core biology courses for non-biology majors, service courses (e.g., human anatomy & physiology) for students majoring in nursing and related allied health fields, and/or advanced Biology courses (e.g., microbiology, cellular & molecular biology) depending upon specific qualifications. Part-time faculty are critical to the mission of the Biology Program. Positions may or may not be available every semester; opportunities are typically available each semester.
Responsibilities
- Teach introductory biology core curriculum lecture and/or laboratory courses (e.g., BIOL 1010, 1010L, 1107, 1107L, 1108, 1108L). Lift 25 lbs.
- Teach biology-based lecture and/or laboratory service courses for nursing and related allied health and health professional fields (e.g., Human Anatomy & Physiology: BIOL 2251, 2251L, 2252, and 2252L; Medical Microbiology: BIOL 2260 and 2260L). Lift 25 lbs.
- Teach intermediate and advanced Biology courses depending upon specific qualifications. Lift 25 lbs.
Qualifications
- For introductory and service courses: Minimum of 18 graduate-level course credits in biology or a biological science-related discipline. Candidates must provide information/references that support teaching effectiveness.
- For advanced courses: An earned doctorate in Biology or a biological science-related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- For introductory and service courses: Master’s Degree in Biology or a biological science-related discipline (e.g., M.S. in a biological science or M.D.). Applications and credentials should correlate with the specific areas of application.
- For advanced courses: Ph.D. in Biology or a biological science-related discipline. Applications and credentials should correlate with the specific areas of application.
