Adjunct Pool - Instructors in Biology
Position Summary
The Department of Biology at North Central College invites applications for adjunct teaching opportunities on a per-course basis. Courses regularly available include Introductory Cell Biology Lab, 200-level Ecology Lab, 200-level Genetics Lab, and Human Biology (lecture and lab for non-majors). Applicants are encouraged to indicate in their cover letter which course areas they are interested in (multiple selections are welcome).
Responsibilities
- Deliver course content consistent with learning outcomes
- Contribute to the creation of assignments and other assessments
- Evaluate and grade student work
- Be available for office hours to support student success
Qualifications
- At least a master's degree in biology or a closely related field
- Experience teaching at the college level
- A terminal degree is preferred
Appointment Details
- Faculty Associate (adjunct) positions are hired on one semester, renewable contracts
- Loads do not exceed 8 credit hours; one course per semester is the norm
- Non-benefits eligible, fixed-term appointment with no tenure eligibility
- Number of courses is contingent upon unit needs, funding, and sufficient enrollment
- Appointments are on a course-by-course basis

Founded in 1861, North Central College is a nationally recognized institution of about 3000 students, located in Naperville, IL, a thriving suburb just west of Chicago. North Central College is within walking distance of the Naperville Metra station and is next to downtown Naperville.
Pay
$960–$1,040 per credit hour. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, including equivalent years in rank, training, and field or discipline; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
