Duties And Responsibilities

• Plan and administer biological research programs
• Collect and analyze biological data about relationships among and between organisms and their environment
• Maintain accurate, daily records of experiments and results in pen in bound laboratory notebooks
• Operate, calibrate, or maintain equipment used in quantitative or qualitative analysis
• Monitor operational procedures in technical environments to ensure conformance to standards
• Monitor experiments, recording production and test data for evaluation by research personnel
• Perform a wide variety of complex procedures and techniques including cell/tissue culture, serological assay, cell sequencing, column chromatography
• Calibrate and operate a variety of laboratory instruments used to perform tests and analyses
• Write reports of findings, stating methods and procedures, including any modifications employed, specimens and materials involved, and results of experiments
• Analyze, evaluate, and discuss the results of each experiment with leadership as part of the planning process for subsequent studies
• Prepare various media, stock supplies, and other reagents for use in the laboratory
• Train students and other laboratory personnel in the use of sophisticated laboratory equipment and in the performance of specialized procedures, techniques
• Support laboratory operations, including routine equipment maintenance and functionality
• Order and maintain laboratory supplies, and equipment including chemicals, biological materials, liquid nitrogen; handle biological materials, infectious agents, biological wastes
• Perform computer analysis of data and use computer and computer software to prepare data for publication
