Responsibilities

  • Leadership:
    • Conduct, direct, and coordinate multi-disciplinary field surveys.
    • Act as a technical lead for the project team.
    • Cultivate a work environment focused on health, safety, and wellness.
    • Establish a positive culture where employees are empowered and accountable.
  • Biologist:
    • Lead wildlife and vegetation surveys for environmental assessment and compliance projects.
    • Provide specialized advice on wildlife and vegetation considerations.
    • Act as a resource for construction personnel on wildlife regulations.
    • Verify and mark biologically sensitive areas, developing mitigation strategies as needed.
    • Lead field kickoff meetings and inspect areas of concern.
    • Review field reports for consistency and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience as a biologist or in a related role.
  • Experience conducting environmental surveys.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including technical report writing and regulatory permit applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Valid Driver’s License with insurability under the company’s insurance carrier.

Qualifications

  • Formal leadership training preferred.
  • Experience with NEPA or state-equivalent regulated projects is an asset.
  • Experience in utilities construction is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
