About the role

The Channing Division of Network Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital is seeking exceptional candidates to work with Dr. Dawn DeMeo on epigenome projects. The role involves managing complex datasets, including genomic-scale next-generation sequencing data, and processing or curating biological data. Projects include interrogation of genome, transcriptome, and epigenome data using machine learning analysis tools and data analysis pipelines.

The Bioinformatician will develop and support the bioinformatics infrastructure required for data collection, transformation, and analysis, integrating a wide range of skills and techniques. Responsibilities include designing, creating, and supporting tools and software analysis pipelines, as well as secure dissemination of generated information.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and support bioinformatics infrastructure for data collection, transformation, and analysis.
  • Design, create, and maintain tools and software analysis pipelines.
  • Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to solve ‘big data’ problems.
  • Perform technology watch and contribute to the strategy and evolution of existing services and future architecture.
  • Work independently in a highly collaborative and intellectually challenging environment.
  • Ensure secure dissemination of information generated from analysis pipelines.

Requirements

  • MS in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or Biological Engineering.
  • Understanding of programming with agile development methods.
  • Experience with R and Python (Pandas).
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics tools, including common methylation tools (Minfi, EpiMix) and OMICs data (DNA, RNA, methylation, 16S, metabolomics).
  • Experience with databases (PostgreSQL) and database design.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Snakemake, or Nextflow.
  • Knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Pay

$75,275.20 - $109,553.60/Annual

Schedule

  • Hybrid work arrangement.
  • Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
  • Work shift: Day.
  • Work location: 399 Revolution Drive.
