About the Role

Plays a role in bioinformatics collaboration, consulting, and education for physician scientists and basic research scientists on biomedical and translational research. Contributes to preparation of scientific manuscripts, including writing bioinformatics methods, design, and results, and drafts manuscripts on bioinformatics methods and analyses for journals. Provides education and consultation to research staff on basic and advanced bioinformatics design and analyses development. Leads bioinformatics research projects under the supervision of principal investigators and assists with core service administration and other administrative duties.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with principal investigators in selecting bioinformatics methods and collecting experimental data.
  • Manages and advises researchers on the specification and conduct of bioinformatics analysis for research projects.
  • Develops data analysis reports and presentations to monitor project progress.
  • Contributes to manuscript preparation, including writing bioinformatics methods, design, relevant results, data tables, and graphs.
  • Assists in grant preparation, including writing bioinformatics methods, summarizing results with tables and graphs, and justifying specific bioinformatics approaches.
  • Collaborates and consults with investigators and researchers on the design, collection, and analysis of biomedical research data.
  • Provides education and consultation to investigators, research residents, fellows, faculty, and key research staff on basic and advanced bioinformatics design and analysis issues.
  • Leads and manages bioinformatics analysis projects, requiring assistance from principal investigators and involved researchers.
  • Collaborates with bioinformatics programmers and master’s-level bioinformaticians on experimental design and analysis methods.
  • Provides bioinformatics advice to lab and external collaborators on joint projects.
  • Contributes to teamwork within and between departments, divisions, programs, and other organizations.
  • Ensures work conforms to established hospital, program, state, and federal policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Two years of experience, including bioinformatics consulting and analysis, assistance with protocol generation and grant writing, and collaboration in scientific writing.

Pay

The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting. Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and other job-related factors.
