Biochemist I (Must Have Tissue culture & Assay skills)

Job Description

The Biochemist 1 will assist the MFG Tissue Culture department in performing routine Hybridoma production (requiring excellent sterile technique and tissue culture skills). This role also includes lab maintenance tasks such as cleaning incubators, restocking supplies, and running in-process assays to ensure product quality.

The Biochemist I is expected to work independently, perform Tissue Culture functions including Hybridoma roller bottle cell culture, ascites production, insect cell shaker culture, recombinant protein production, in-process assays, and adhere to safety procedures. They are also expected to learn sterile technique and make antibodies.

The Biochemist I should be capable of completing assigned tissue culture procedures with high quality by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and batch records. They are expected to enter data promptly and accurately, continuously improve their skills based on production needs, and meet deadlines to maintain Tissue Culture productivity.

In addition, the Biochemist I must develop and implement an annual training plan based on approved Individual Improvement Goals (IIGs) and collaborate closely with senior biochemists to ensure tasks are completed on time. They are also expected to support and participate in continuous improvement projects as directed by the Executive Steering Committee.

Qualifications

• Education: Requires a BS degree in Science or a related field from a 4-year institution.

• Experience: Requires 0-2 years of experience in a Biotech/Life Science manufacturing environment with some working knowledge in science disciplines and operation of basic lab equipment.
