Bindery Assistant
Job Description
Aid Bindery Operators by setting up and maintaining advanced binding equipment such as ink jet and mailing devices, power folders and collators, speed binders, and cover-inserter machines with four-knife trimmers. Interpret job orders, plan operations, and adjust equipment settings as needed. Monitor equipment operation to ensure quality standards are met and perform routine maintenance tasks like cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting machinery.
Qualifications
- Apply working knowledge to set up more complex binding machinery under supervision.
- Adjust equipment settings for variations in paper size, thickness, or material characteristics.
- Use basic arithmetic and fractions to make accurate adjustments.
- Operate hand tools to fine-tune machine settings and perform minor repairs.
- Collate, fan, jog, and stack paper neatly as part of the setup process.
- Gain familiarity with a variety of single-function and automated bindery machines.
Additional Information
The salary range for this position at the specified RRD location is $15.45 - $20.47 per hour. Starting salaries are determined by a combination of relevant education, qualifications, skills, experience, certifications, performance, shift, location, and other business needs. Promotion opportunities within the role typically lead to higher rates or incremental increases. In addition to the hourly wage, compensation packages may include overtime, shift differentials, call-in pay, and stand-by pay.
