Position Summary

The BIM Engineer plays a pivotal role in advancing Siemens' digital twin strategy, working in close collaboration with NVIDIA to create and optimize high-quality 3D models and digital assets. This position is essential for bridging current gaps in our 3D modeling capabilities, ensuring that our digital representations are "Sim Ready" and seamlessly integrated into our engineering and visualization workflows. You will be instrumental in bringing complex designs to life in the digital realm, supporting innovative projects from concept to immersive experience.

Core Competencies

  • 3D Modeling & Design: Expertise in creating and optimizing 3D models, particularly for electrical equipment, with a focus on "SimReady" assets.

  • CAD Proficiency: Strong command of CAD software such as NX, AutoCAD, Revit, or Creo for model creation and management.

  • Digital Asset Management: Proficient in managing digital assets, including CAD file governance and version control, ideally within Teamcenter.

  • USD & Omniverse: Hands-on experience with CAD-to-USD conversion workflows and scene assembly within NVIDIA Omniverse.

  • Visualization Standards: Knowledge of PBR materials and visualization best practices for high-fidelity digital representations.

  • Technical Interpretation: Ability to translate 2D drawings and SLDs into accurate and functional 3D layouts.

  • Collaboration & Innovation: Eager to support digital twin strategies and contribute to innovative partnerships.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Computer Graphics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in 3D modeling and digital asset creation.

  • Proficiency with at least one major CAD software (e.g., NX, AutoCAD, Revit, or Creo).

  • Experience with CAD file governance and version control.

  • Familiarity with 3D layout composition based on engineering drawings.

  • Ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative team environment.

  • Ability to travel domestically up to 25%, for up to a week at a time (adjust travel as needed based on actual expectations).

  • Likely to be legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in leading 3D asset creation and modeling.

  • Demonstrated experience with "SimReady" asset creation for simulation or real-time environments.

  • Direct experience with Teamcenter for product lifecycle and asset management.

  • Proven experience with CAD-to-USD conversion workflows.

  • Hands-on experience with NVIDIA Omniverse for scene assembly and visualization.

  • Knowledge of PBR materials and advanced visualization standards.

  • Experience in creating 3D models for electrical equipment or industrial machinery.

  • Understanding of digital twin concepts and their application in industrial settings.
