BIM/CAD Technician

Duties and Responsibilities

• Create, edit, and manipulate 2D and 3D CAD files for construction layout, site preparation, and coordination
• Develop and refine surface models for GPS-guided equipment
• Convert design files (DWG, DXF, LandXML, PDF, RVT, etc.) for field equipment compatibility
• Work with field crews to troubleshoot and optimize digital layouts using robotic total stations and GPS systems
• Validate model accuracy against contract drawings, survey data, and project specifications
• Integrate BIM/CAD models with construction schedules, clash detection, and site logistics
• Stay updated on new BIM/CAD technologies to enhance workflow and accuracy

Qualifications

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the commercial construction industry, OR possession of an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, or similar CAD/BIM software
• Experience with construction layout technology (Topcon LN150, Trimble, or Leica)
• Familiarity with coordinate systems and digital terrain models
• Ability to troubleshoot and support field personnel with digital layouts
• Strong organizational and communication skills
