(Alaska) Sr DS lead Location: Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska (Onsite) Role Overview We are seeking a Distribution Systems Lead Engineer to support an ongoing contract. This position is on-site at Eielson Air Force Base near Fairbanks, Alaska, and requires the candidate to reside in the local area for daily project support. This role involves leading engineering efforts, managing teams, and ensuring the successful completion of specific engineering programs and projects. Key Responsibilities Contribute to the completion of specific engineering programs and projects.Develop solutions to a variety of complex engineering problems.Perform complex systems design, development, and integration from the start of a system's life cycle to the end.Oversee complex infrastructure, including installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools.Perform complex systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.Perform continual maintenance and provide solutions for security, backup, and redundancy problems.Prepare and maintain documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projects.Lead and supervise OSP/ISP, fiber optic, and communication closet engineers and technicians.Manage agency and subcontractor labor, including daily direction and quality assurance.Serve as the primary engineering liaison to government points of contact and base stakeholders.Coordinate base access, installation schedules, materials, and personnel deployment.Validate engineering deliverables, including drawings, design inputs, reports, and risk assessments.Lead design reviews, planning sessions, and strategic decision-making for distribution systems workstreams.Identify and mitigate engineering risks, design conflicts, and installation challenges.Support program leadership with execution planning, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.Maintain expert-level knowledge of relevant standards, including TIA/EA, UFC, I3A, OSP/ISP, and fiber technologies. Required Qualifications Experience: 10+ years in telecommunications engineering, network infrastructure, OSP/ISP design, or related disciplines.5+ years leading multi-discipline engineering teams in field or deployment environments.Experience delivering large-scale communications modernization projects for federal or large enterprise environments.Experience managing subcontractor labor and agency field teams.Familiarity with installation processes, base coordination, and engineering standards.Strong background in OSP construction, fiber design/testing, and telecommunications room infrastructure. Preferred Qualifications Experience leading on-site teams performing network infrastructure or modernization programs.BICSI OSP (Outside Plant Designer) certification.FOA CFOT (Fiber Optic Technician) certification.OSHA 30 or equivalent safety certification.
