About the role
Biltmore House Support Services Staff IIs perform general maintenance in Biltmore House and other historic structures on Biltmore Estate including, but not limited to: general plumbing, electrical, painting, stone cleaning, pressure washing, gutter cleaning, and light carpentry. Assisting other departments such as Floral, Museum Services and Housekeeping.
Responsibilities
- Repair work on the plumbing system in Biltmore House and other historic structures.
- Basic electrical repairs.
- Perform basic carpentry skills.
- Set up and break down Special Projects.
- Follow all safety rules and regulations.
Requirements
- A high school diploma.
- At least two (2) years of previous maintenance experience required.
- The preferred candidate will have three (3) years of experience, including working with historic structures.
- Must have prior experience with repair/maintenance for carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, and/or electrical systems.
- Trade certifications and/or licenses are preferred.
- Strong planning, organizational, project and time management skills, with excellent attention to detail and a focus on quality.
- Ability to be proactive and take initiative as well as work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
- Ability to take direction and understand and execute instructions successfully.
- Ability to operate various equipment, tools, and machinery.
- Should be comfortable with responding to guest questions and requests in a manner consistent with Biltmore standards.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, be at least 19 years of age, and have a clean driving record for the past three years.

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds on a regular basis with assistance.
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and/or scaffolding.
- Ability to reach overhead, bend, squat/kneel.
- Ability to work both inside and outdoors in all types of weather conditions with fluctuations in temperature.
Pay
The starting pay range for this position begins at $17.85/hour and is based on the level of qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum requirements.
Schedule
Full Time: a position working 32+ hours per week. Schedule can vary but is generally Monday-Thursday from 6am - 4:30pm.
