Responsibilities
- Processes discharge transports for traditional Medicare.
- Reviews and submits medically necessary claims to Medicare for payment/denial along with accurate documentation.
- Completes ambulance coding of non-emergency claims.
- Communicates effectively and professionally with all customers.
- Recommends efficiencies to overall departmental processes.
- Completes required reports and assists with special projects as assigned.
- Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
- Adheres to and complies with information systems security policies and procedures.
- Attends Information Systems security training, when offered.
- Reports on information systems security problems.
- Shifts daily priorities with flexibility.
- Mets deadlines, working within tight time constraints.
- Handles large volumes of work.
- Mets or exceeds established standards for productivity and quality.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- 3+ years of medical billing experience with government payor.
- Familiarity with government payor and HIPAA requirements.
- Knowledge of HCPCS and strong computer skills.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and excellent follow-through.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Able to manage high-volume work with speed and accuracy.
- Flexibility, quick learner, and goal-driven.
- Team-oriented, cooperative, and committed.
- Proactive in learning, improving skills, and adapting to shifting priorities.
