Billing Specialist LOA

About the Role

Under the direct supervision of the Revenue Cycle Manager, the Billing Specialist LOA will review eligible claims for submission to the State (LOA).

Responsibilities

• Reviews eligible claims for compliance with State requirements.
• Determines what qualifies as billable and non-billable for both Medical and dental claims.
• Processes the full life cycle of LOA claims, including processing pending claims and following up on approval or rejection.
• Validates and confirms patient payments as part of billing meetings regarding loss of revenue due to missing payments.
• Collaborates with the Billing Claims Manager to develop plans for addressing loss of revenue due to missing payments.
• Answers questions from patients and clerical staff regarding LOA/Uninsured issues or concerns.
• Conducts self in accordance with ZHC’s employee handbook.
• Maintains the strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, keyboarding, and use of electronic medical records.
• Ability to operate a computer and basic office equipment.
• Skill in answering a telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.
• Must be well-organized and detail-oriented.
• Ability to learn and apply trauma-informed care principles within the scope of the position.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

Pay

$19.50–$22.61 per hour.
